    Nico Olivia is an archeologist, and the mother of Robin Nico. With the others of Ohara, she sought to uncover the mystery of the missing century.

    Origin

    Olivia is one of the many archeological scholars of the island Ohara in the West Blue. She had a daughter named Robin, but her husband passed away. While her beloved daughter was still very small, she left along with several of her colleges to continue the research she and her husband had been conducting in trying to solve the mystery of the 100 Year Void in the world's history by deciphering the Poneglyphs, a practice that was considered a terrible taboo by the World Government. She left her daughter in the care of her relatives.

    Nico Olivia (ニコ・オルビア, Niko Orubia) is a supporting character from the One Piece series by Eiichiro Oda. The series first began serialization in Shueisha's Weekly Shōnen Jump on August 4, 1997. She first appeared during the Enies Lobby Arc that began in Volume 38.

    Her first appearance is in One Piece Vol. 41, CH. 325 "Dereshi".

    Olivia and her crew were eventually captured by the Marines, and they tried to destroy the evidence of where they were from. Olivia was captured and the only living crew member. The Marines still learned that her people were from Ohara, but Vice-Admiral Jaguar D Saul freed her when he learned that his superiors were planning on sending the Buster Call to destroy the island.

    Olivia sailed by herself on her way home, and she made it to the library tree. She warned the other scholars, and they tried to get her to see her daughter. Olivia felt she no longer deserved to be Robin's mother for the way she left her. Olivia was soon captured by Spandine, as well as the other scholars. When Olivia heard Professor Clover call out to Robin, she couldn't help but look to her daughter who no longer recognized her. However, Robin called out to her and ask if she was her mother. To avoid implicating her in front of the CP-9 officers, Olivia had to deny her own child, but Robin refused to believe it. She cried out how she had been waiting for her, she studied to become an archeologist like her, then she shocked everyone when she declared she taught herself to read the poneglyphs. After hearing this, Spandine left Olivia behind as he gave the signal for the Buster Call and ran away. Robin and Olivia finally had their tearful reunion, but the island was about to be destroyed by the Marine ships.

    Olivia stayed behind to try and save the accumulated knowledge of the island during the bombardment, and she handed Robin over to Saul to get her to safety. Her final words to her daughter was to stay alive. Olivia when stayed behind as they tried to throw as much research into the lake. She then died along with everyone else on Ohara.

    Olivia has a genius level intellect. She is a certified archeologist and among one of the best of the Ohara scholars. She is able to decipher various languages and can read the poneglyph.

    One Piece (1999)

    The One Piece animated series is a direct adaptation of Oda's original manga.. It's produced by TOEI Animation and first began airing in October 20, 1999. Olivia's first anime appearance is in One Piece - Episode 269 "Robin was Betrayed! The Expectations of the World Government!", which aired on Jun 25, 2006 in Japan.

    Her character in the Japanese series is voiced by Yuriko Yamaguchi, the standard voice actress of Nico Robin;, and the U.S. dub produced by FUNimation has yet to announce any casting information.
