    Newt was a mutant held in the Breeding Pens by Apocalypse and Dark Beast. Along with fellow captives Artemis, Avalanche, Pyro, and Phantazia, he tried to escape, only to be recaptured and severly injured by Northstar´s fist, one of the Elite Mutant Force. He was then allegedly turned into protoplasmic soup by Dark Beast in order to create more soldiers for Apocalypse.

    Newt has similar powers to that of the standard Marvel 616 universe's Toad -- increased leg strength that allowed him enhanced leaping strength and agility.
