    After a bombing on Excalibur by Technet fails, Gatecrasher is defeated. Feeling bad for the homeless remnants of Technet, Excalibur takes them in. Nightcrawler, while injured, begins training them to fight crime. However, it does not go so well. Nightcrawler gives them a team identity, naming them the "N-Men" (N for Nightcrawler). They later prove their worth by battling and defeating an invisible spectre in Excalibur 45.
