    The King of Fighters

    Kyo Kusanagi is one of the protagonist of the "Orochi Saga" in The King of Fighters series. Kyo is the heir of the Kusanagi clan who wield pyrokinetic powers.

    He was introduced in The King of Fighters '94 as the leader of the Japan team.

    Kyo is directly responsible for defeating Rugal Burnstein, the host of the 94' & 95' tournements. Prior to 1996 he is challenged by Leopold Goenitz, one of the Heavenly Kings of Orochi. Goenitz thrashes Kyo with ease forcing Kyo to re-dedicate himself to his training and alters his fighting style power flame attacks allowing him to this time defeat Goenitz.

    In 1997 Kyo along with the other two "Three Sacred Treasures" (Iori Yagami & Chizuru Kagura) defeat the reborn Orochi and seal him away once again.

    Powers

    • Pyrokinesis - Due to his Kusanagi heritage, Kyo can control fire. He can create fire from thin air, flame based projectiles, deliver punches of fire, create pillars of fire and put his own body on fire. Despite this ability he is neither immune to other types of fire nor able to control other fires that he doesn't create. Also, the flames he wields are nothing more than just ordinary fire: it does not have the mystical 'trapping' ability of Iori's purple holy flames.
