    Krause Publications was founded in Iola, Wisconsin by Chester L. Krause in 1952. They relocated to Stevens Point, Wisconsin, in April 2018.[2]

    The company was started in October of 1952 with their publication of the first issue of Numismatic News. In June 2002 Krause Publications was acquired by F&W Publications. At the time of the purchase, Krause was publishing 46 magazines and had nearly 750 books in print. Understanding the value of their name and reputation with collectors, F&W continued Krause Publications as an imprint.

    In June 2019, F&W Publications' assets were sold at bankruptcy auction and Krause was acquired by Penguin/Random House. The magazines were sold off to other publishing houses, however Penguin continues to keep many of the Krause books in print.
