Origin

The original Kid Quantum, James Cullen of Xanthu, joined the Legion of Super-Heroes during its first week. His ability to generate stasis fields received an artificial boost from his stasis belt. During the Legion's first mission, he died battling the alien entity Tangleweb, his malfunctioning belt partly to blame. This tragedy prompted the Legion to deny membership to those whose powers relied on external devices. Before long Jazmin Cullen, Jamie's sister, joined the Legion. As Kid Quantum II, she wielded the same powers as her brother, but underwent experimental surgery to augment her powers instead of relying on stasis belt. The radical surgery boosted her natural abilities to project time and reality-altering status fields. Although she bore some resentment toward the Legion for failing to prevent her brother's death. Kid Quantum II put her bitterness behind her as she established close friendship within the roster.

Character Evolution

Reboot: Earth-247

During the Robotica Crisis, Kid Quantum II would be elected to become the Legion's new leader. She appointed Traid as her deputy and soon struck up a romance with Cosmic Boy. The two became quite close, with Cosmic Boy actually making the advancements and also nominating her during the elections. Recently, Kid Quantum II stepped down as Legion leader but will undoubtedly aid the team in its continuing struggle against the force of Apokolips.

Or not, since she appeared in the Legion's "Earth-247" Reboot. That continuity line seems to have vanished and she has not appeared since then

Powers and Abilities

She is able to project stasis fields that halt the movement of time and warp reality within their sphere of influence. This sphere of influence is only as durable and long lasting as Jazmin is at peak physical conditions. The more strenuous the situation, and the more fatigued, the less she is able to hold on to the time vortex.

Jazmin is also an able fighter and tactician, being trained by some of the best combatants in the Legion.

Equipment

As a member of the Legion of Super-Heroes, Kid Quantum possesses a Legion Flight Ring. The ring gives its wearer the ability to fly, the speed and range of which is determined by the wearer's willpower. It also acts as a long-range communicator (enabling constant vocal contact with other Legionnaires, even across vast distances of space), a signal device, and a navigational compass, all powered by a micro-computer built inside the ring.
