Kerry Drake was a newspaper comic strip that ran from 1943 to 1983. The main character is an investigator for the DA office who, after his fiancée is murdered joins the police force. He is sometimes aided by this Lefty, his younger brother who is a private detective. He later marries the widow of another policeman and becomes the father of quadruplets.
At first Kerry Drake was a slightly more realistic take on Dick Tracy, taking harsh action against bizarre looking villains.
After his marriage and especially after the birth of the children the strip took on more and more of the tone of a soap opera.
In his short life in the comics, most of which took place at Harvey, none of this came as the wife and kids did not show up until the 60’s and Kerry Drake’s comic book career was over before the 50’s were.
