    ***SPOILER FREE REVIEW***With great trepidation, I picked up Katana #1. I know nothing about the character (I stopped reading Birds of Prey well over a year ago), and Ann Nocenti has been quite disappointing with her work in the New 52 (both Green Arrow and Catwoman were bad). Admittedly, Katana #1 is a far better read than any of Nocenti's previous work, but is still too much of a middle of the road comic for me to strongly consider recommending this comic.You can tell that Nocenti and artist A...

    Right off the bat, I was worried about this series after Ann Nocenti's atrocious run on Green Arrow and her devastating run on Catwoman, and this first cover certainly didn't help. Are her ankles tied together or something? Is she about to take a dump? Katana is drawn in the one of the most awkward and impossible pose I've ever seen with bizarre breasts and excessively curvy hips and legs.But as soon as I opened the book and took a glance through it, my hopes were raised a bit because Alex Sanch...

    I really didn't like this issue! The cover was okay and I have always like Tatsu but as soon as I opened it, I put it down. The art (though much better than I can draw) was just average, borderline ugly.And then I read it, painfully forced my way through my bad purchase. A feudal Japanese town in San Francisco, her costume changing every few panels, along with her skin colour. She's Japanese and you keep making her GREY? Just really pedestrian and turning her into a worry-wart "I need a teacher....
