Innovative Communications were a subsidiary of sales promotions agency Business Development Partnership (BDP) who decided to launch a new, contemporary comic to challenge the Beano, feeling they could produce a comic more in line with what children actually wanted. BDP set up Innovative Communications, who in turn produced their first, and ultimately only, title, Triffik!, which launched on 29th February 1992. Due to BDP's sales promotions background, each issue included tokens redeemable for free snacks and soft drinks tied to BDP clients. Having proclaimed they had spent £1.6 million launching the comic, Triffik!'s initial print run was an optimistic 400,000 issues, though Triffik!'s publisher even more optimistically told Sales Promotion magazine they expected to sell half a million copies of the first issue, some 100,000 more than was actually being printed. Sales were then anticipated to stabilise around 250,000 per issue, putting it on level pegging with the Beano, then the UK's second best selling comic (after Viz).

Unsurprisingly Triffik!'s sales were nowhere in the region of what Innovative was hoping for, the comic cancelled after 12 issues, and Innovative didn't produce any further titles.
