Hustace Throckmorton was severely hurt when jumped off a building trying to emulate the Black Condor. The only one nearby with a compatible blood type match was Roy Lincoln, secretly the Human Bomb. Lincoln’s blood transfusion not only saved Throckmorton, but also passed along the explosive formula 27-QRX running through his veins. Throckmorton gained the ability to explode like Lincoln, however for some reason, the explosions were channeled only through his feet. Lincoln made Throckmorton Fibra-wax shoes, and revealed his secret identity to Throckmorton. Throckmorton became the Human Bomb’s comic sidekick, often using his awkwardness to distract enemies or get Lincoln into predicaments.
Throckmorton's fate after the Human Bomb joined the All-Star Squadron is unknown.
