Founded in 1997 Gotham distributed titles such as Superman, JLA, Spiderman, X-Men, Tarzan, Thundercats and even Flinstones and Powerpuff girls. They are probably best known for creating an Indian version of Spiderman dressed in a similar top and Indian pants who is closely but not completely based on Peter Parker. He has his own friends and family, including an Aunt Maya. It would later merge with Richard Branson's Virgin group to create Virgin Comics. Deepak Chopra and his son Gautam "Gotham" Chopra were among the founders of  this new company. One of their first new titles, Sadhu, a story about a soldier who was a monk, or a "sadhu" in his previous life, was to be made into a film with Nicholas cage in the lead, but was later cancelled or not well received.
