Godzilla appears off the coast of Alaska, attacking the Alaskan Pipeline and devastating its central station, before S.H.I.E.L.D. arrives to control the problem. Dum Dum Dugan and Jimmy Woo attempt to stop Godzilla's rampage, attacking with a laser canon from Stark Enterprises and "every other weapon" in the arsenal on the S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicarrier, but to no avail. Meanwhile, Nick Fury personally flies in Dr. Takiguchi, his assistant, and his grandson from Japan who have dealt with Godzilla before.

- The issue adapts the origin of Godzilla with some variation from the original Toho films in order to make the character's transition into the Marvel Universe smoother.
