Cannon visits Cuba to ensure that Casque and his missing comrads aren't being help there. Cannon receives message from Kiani informing him that she was going with Marqueses to rescues Casque. Cannon reminisces about Kiani's rage. Cannon had taken Kiani to see the human cities and try to get her to understand, that they aren't innately evil people. Once Cannon meets up with Kiani and the survivors, Kiani takes off after Marqueses to try to rescue Casque. Cannon's ship is attacked while returning to Muria, and he and Brande are forced to battle fighter jets in broad daylight. Maylander intent to carry this battle into the open, instead of in the shadows, now that they've faced the Blue in this little skirmish.
