Robert "Bob" Daley belonged to the select group of people who knew of Tex Thompson's secret identity as Mr. America. Donning a comedic costume and taking the name "Fat Man", Bob soon became Tex's sidekick during their numerous adventures throughout the 1940s. For many years, Bob and Tex lived in Brooklyn, New York.

An alternate version of Bob Daley appears in The Golden Age Elseworlds limited series. In this particular version, Tex considered his association with Bob an embarrassment in light of his political career. This affected Bob greatly as he had considered Tex his best friend. He's eventually seen helping an amnesiac Manhunter and ultimately helping the rest of the heroes put a stop to Tex's reign of terror.
