    Origin

    Evelyn Curry is a woman wrongly convicted of a crime and was nearly executed for it.  Superman was able to save her life by finding, capturing and getting the real criminal to sign a confession.  He then went to the Governor's home and got his to stay her execution.

    Creation

    Evelyn has the distinct honer in comic history to be the first person to ever be saved by Superman.  In the very first appearance of Superman in Action Comics #1 Evelyn is the first person in the story to be saved.  Ironically, he saved her by proving her innocence instead of the more traditional method of Superman swooping in and saving the day.
