She was an Italian graduate student and then eventual co-worker of Ray Palmer the alter ego of the Atom from Ivy Town. She had a real passion for science (having been named after Nobel Prize winner Enrico Fermi) and is able to match Ray Palmer in scientific intellect to the point where even Jean Loring becomes a little jealous.
She is also known as Enrica Negrini.
