Creation
Doc Fate was created by Grant Morrison and Doug Mahnke in Final Crisis: Superman Beyond 3D #1 but made his first full debut in The Multiversity: The Society of Super-Heroes: The Conquerors of the Counter-World. Doc Fate is an amalgam of Doctor Fate concept with that of Doc Savage.
Discovered the Helmet of Fate and Amulet of Anubis and became the superhero Doc Fate and later formed the Society of Super-Heroes of Earth-20 and leading adventurer of his universe, Kent Nelson is Doc Fate, an expert in magic and technology who uses his knowledge and his guns to fight against the dark forces hidden in his world.
He bested Ibn al Ghul and won the great war against Herr Hex and his Desert Crescent allies, saving the world. Abin Sur appeared to him to warn of a threat from a parallel Earth. That Spring, Earth 40 invaded and he defended his Earth alongside his team.
His magic helmet gives Kent not only magic capabilities and access to the witchcraft to fight evil but also hides his own African racial features, implying than in Earth-20, racism and social inequality is stronger than in the main universe.
Doc Fate was recruited by Wallace West to fight the Anti-Monitor along side other heroes of the multiverse.
