In his civilian identity, the man known as the superhero Coil-Man is one member of a semi-famous 1960s pop rock music trio consisting entirely of three singers who play electric guitars. Most of the time, he plays his guitar with his left hand while the other two play with their right hands. According to one episode, his actual civilian identity is Coil, for when asked in his civilian identity by two fangirls for his autograph, he presented it signed as "Coil". It is never revealed whether this is his first name, his surname, or a stage name.

When government agent Big D contacts the popular rock group the Impossibles about a supercriminal on the loose, they then transform into the superpowered group the Impossibles!

Big D always contacts the Impossibles through Coil-Man's guitar.

    Powers & Abilities

Springs (elasticity, bouncing listed as "flight", spring drill listed as "claws")

When the young rock star transforms into Coil-Man, his arms become elastic springs which can stretch for twenty or more yards without a loss in resilence or strength, and his legs become a single spring which enables him to bounce along at high speeds and leap high distances. When he is Coil-Man, he demonstrates an unusually high level of agility, able to spring out of the way of most attacks even when he has been ambushed, and a low level of superhuman strength, able to lift a car over head on occasion. He is also able to shape the coils of his arms or of his single leg into a pointed drill which can bore a hole through steel in seconds. He demonstrates an invulnerability against heat and electricity when it is channeled through his springs as well as a superhuman resilience against most forms of concussive impact, never harming himself when he rams into something nor harming his hands when he uses his springs for a spring-loaded punch and recovering effortlessly from having a safe dropped on his head; in one episode, he stops incoming bullets by painlessly punching them with his fist.

Coil-Man appears to be made of what modern comic books would now call "organic ferrometal" (although this is never explained in the cartoon series itself) as he can be held by magnets and has shown the ability to conduct heat or electricity through his springs without difficulty.

In a single episode, he was able to disguise himself as a wire clothes hanger.

    Attractive Male

Despite being a dumpy, overweight, short blond man with the voice of a middle-aged man, Coil-Man's admittedly cute civilian identity has hordes of screaming teenage girl fans following him around and begging for his autograph.

    Handedness

Coil-Man appears to be ambidextrous, as he has been shown playing his guitar with both his right hand and his left hand with equal skill.

    Style

Like the other Impossibles, Coil-Man loves to indulge in puns throughout his adventures. Additionally, the three superheroes clearly love to hang out with each other, often using affectionate nicknames for each other and showing genuine concern for each other. They all behave with the unflagging good cheer of people who are on their way up in their lives but still haven't become used to success enough for the thrill of success to subside in any way.

    Equipment

Coil-Man, Fluid-Man, and Multi-Man travel around in the Impossi-Car or Impossi-Mobile, a flying car which can turn into a submarine or speedboat as well as turning back into the ordinary stylish car they use in their civilian identities as rock stars.
