Cory Chase is the father of Eric Chase. He fought in the Vietnam War as a medevac helicopter pilot when his helicopter was shot down. Caught by the Vietcong, he was imprisoned together with a local witch. When bound together and put to a test, the witch began to fly into the air. About to be shot by the Vietcong, the witch kissed Cory Chase, somehow transferring his powers to fly to Cory. Keeping it a secret, Cory used his powers to escape and take revenge on the Vietcong. Chased by a Vietcong captain in a helicopter, Cory was killed when the blades of the helicopter sliced him in half. His service patch and a photograph of his kids were found by another soldier, who had sent it back to Cory's wife. His wife sew the patch into Eric Chase's cape.
