ONSLAUGHT RISES! The greatest threat mutantkind has ever known is more powerful than ever, and only Cable stands between him and total domination!
Synopsis
In the X-Mansion, Cable gets checked out by Beast (Dark Beast). Ever since his experience stitching back Nate Grey's mind, Cable techno-organic body parts have been a bit more difficult to control. Beast takes a sample (one he is very, very interested in) and Cable meets with Storm. She reports to him on an encounter she had with a foe and Cable probes her mind and finds an "echo" of a presence he is familiar with. This slight strain taxes him and he - with Domino's help - explains his odd reaction to Storm as merely the flu.
At the Baltimore Harbor, Cable is viewing the now-visable wreckage of Blaquesmith's ship. Two cops try to ask him some questions but he skirts them with some telepathic trickery. He boards the ship and gets the same echo Storm had in her head. Cable realizes that this echo mirrors that of a foe that was following him at Camp Hayden. He suddenly gets a rush of memory: he and G.W. Bridge once infiltrated the Mandarin's quarters in China and found a mutant named Tremaine being experimented on. The men chase off the Mandarin threat, but the building is set to explode. G.W. wants to leave, but Cable refuses to leave Tremaine behind. Cable carries the man out, but Tremaine has lost a lot of blood. Not sure what the consequences will be, Cable pumps some of his own blood into Tremaine.
With these memories, Cable realizes that Tremaine is the pursuer. This is too late, as Tremaine - now going by Post - attacks. Due to Cable's weakened state, the fight is over all too quickly. Before Post can deliver a final blow, though, Cable is able to remind Post of their history. Post hesitates and knows that Cable doesn't have much left in him. Onslaught appears and urges Post to finish the job. Out of respect, Post refuses, but also acknowledges that Cable won't survive in his condition. Post leaves and Cable passes out on the dock.
