Beware of Mr. Meek!
Paul Kirk, society sportsman and expert hunter, gives a lecture on wild animals, at a local club. Afterwards, Kirk is swamped by his admirers, including one Myron Meek. That night, on the street outside a broadway playhouse, Kirk is accosted by a woman, Panama Parker, who kisses him, then darts into a passing cab. An ominous black sedan pursues the cab, with Kirk joining the chase in his own car. The sedan runs the cab off the road. Two thugs force Parker out of the cab, and forcibly search her for diamonds. Just as they're about to get violent, Kirk, as the Manhunter, steps in and beats them into unconsciousness. Under the Manhunter's steel-eyed scrutiny, Parker confesses to robbing millionaire Hector Crawford of thousands of dollars, in gemstones. Manhunter produces the jewels, which Parker had planted on Kirk when she kissed him. Posing as a maid, Parker had entered into Crawford's employ to get at the gems. While Crawford was taking a dip in his pool, Parker boosted the gems from his safe. Drawn to Crawford's screams, Parker witnesses Mr. Meek using a strange device to turn the pool water into steel, crushing Crawford. Parker fled the scene in Crawford's car, with Mr. Meek in hot pursuit. As Parker finishes her tale, Mr. Meek arrives, and abducts Parker and Manhunter at gunpoint. The pair are taken to Mr. Meek's yacht, bound, then thrown into a holding cell. While Mr. Meek demonstrates his newest weapon, Manhunter works himself free, then begins systematically taking down Mr. Meek's mob. One thug, however, is able to cry out an alarm, and soon Manhunter is swarmed by Mr. Meek's goons. With Manhunter engaged in combat, Mr. Meek takes aim at him, with his new weapon. Parker tackles Mr. Meek, who falls into the wildly fired beam of his weapon. The atoms of Mr. Meek's body solidify, literally turning him to stone. Manhunter finishes mopping up the floor with Mr. Meek's men, then turns Parker in for robbery.
