Douglas Abbot and his brother Johnny grew up with an abusive father. Doug would always stick up for his younger brother. By the time the sick began, Doug was a Captain in military before his unit decided to head south and set up their own safe zone, as the US Military was falling apart. Doug went back for his brother, but knowing he wouldn't leave their father, Doug killed him to not hold them back.
When they arrived at the safe zone, Doug immediately took over the compound, known as The Preserve, by killing the commanding officer. As commander, Abbot continued to test hybrids in an attempt to find the cure for the disease. Over time, he became more and more ruthless.
