The irrate principal warns Goofy that his son may be on his way to a criminal record. Goofy concludes that his son is involved in gang-related activities. He decides to take Max to an extended trip, partly in hopes of bonding with him and to get him away from "crime". Max has to endure the well-meaning but disastrous ideas of Goofy concerning vacationing spots and still find a way to impress Roxanne and have a summer romance.
The film did relatively well on cinemas but received mixed reviews. While Goofy's concern over his son does add new dimensions to the character, critics felt that he came off as overbearing. Neither Goof attempts to have a honest conversation until very late in the film.
Pete and PJ, regulars in Goof Troop, have significant roles. But neither seen nor mentioned are Peg and Pistol. Respectively Pete's wife and daughter, they were the female leads of Goof Troop.
