Flippy and Flop and Sam the dog first appearing in 3 also ran cartoons from Screen Gems and engaged in your basic cat chases bird, dog stops cat from eating bird, mayhem ensues sort of thing.
That would have been it for them but after the war as the market for superheroes started to die out DC decided to get in on comics about licensed cartoon characters.
Unfortunately for them by then all the famous cartoon characters had been licensed out to other publishers, so they took on a set of Screen Gems’ cartoon characters that had appeared in only a few less than successful toons. These included Fox & Crow, Tito and His Burrito, and Flippy, Flop and Sam, only DC changed the birds name to Flippity, and left the dog’s name off the title.
Their success at DC would be more pronounced than is had been on the screen.
They shared their comic with the even less original team of chesse loving mice Twiddle & Twaddle.
