    And the rest of the team

    So here we have it, the second out of three issues of this very special group.
    Now first issue was focused on Shade and Enchantress/June Moon and their budding relationship. In this issue we are introduced, briefly, to the rest of the team which I will reveal consists of;

    Abra Kadabra; disgruntled future man using technology so advanced he appears to have magic powers, but if this issue is anything to go by, he is secretly jealous that he doesn't have real magic powers.
    Amethyst; 12 year old girl mage hiding in an adult body.
    Mindwarp; new character that will appear in Justice League: Dark after the event, has a neat power and a very 'rockstar' attitude to life.
    Zatanna; If you have seen the cover to issue three you wont be surprised to know that she is very goth looking now, but that her relationship with her father has deteriorated a lot.
    Raven; red-skinned and four eyed half demon with a dubious moral compass, as Kadabra called her.
    Somewhere I have the feeling that the Zee and Raven's daddy relationships has in this world been switched, Raven now adores hers and Zatanna despises hers.

    As the issue reveals, Shade is having trouble focusing on the real task while June Moon is nearby and has problems gauging the effects of his new vest that he got last issue. On the note of Moon, it appears some actually preferred the 'screaming witch' Enchantress, simply because of 'the devil you know'. While others declares Shade a lost and dangerous case...something Shade himself might begin to believe he is at the end of this issue.

    Art wise it is perfectly ok, though i liked the nostalgia-feel Perez lent to the first issue, Blanco does a good job at adding the magic effects thats happening in this issue and i admit i like the changes that's come over Raven and Zatanna.

    Story wise I am not really satisfied, when i was done i was more like 'wasnt there anymore?', and that has to do with this being a 3-parter and a tie in. The rest of the world of Flashpoint's problems are mentioned briefly but otherwise takes a backseat thats easily forgotten. The characters aren't really explored enough for my liking (not enough for me to start caring before they died) and one of them literally only has 2 pages of appearance before the person is doing the wrong thing at the wrong time. All in all i think Milligan could have made a truly interesting story, possibly with deeper characterization for everyone, if he had more time and space to do it with than he has here. Also i personally think there is too much focus on two members and their relationship in comparison to the other members.

      My enjoyment of Secret Seven is closely tied to my love of Peter Milligan's run on Shade the Changing Man, a fact that the second issue of this mini-series made impossible to ignore. Some gaps in storytelling are inevitable when you have seven characters with major personal issues embroiled in a murder mystery, a possible love triangle, and the wider events of Flashpoint. However, I have to admit I'm having a good time trying to imagine how Milligan would have filled them in given the time and s...
