A Hero Discovers his Destiny
This impressive Flashpoint back-up series reaches its epic conclusion. Kal-El, aka Subject One, arrives at England, occupied by Amazon forces, to protect Lois Lane from the ruthless and vengeful Neil Sinclair, aka Subject Zero. The battle between the two is awesome, as the skinny Kal-El can hold his own against the monstrously huge Sinclair.
Gene Ha's art fits with Scott Snyder's writing, as the two managed to portray a remarkable conflict between Kal-El and Sinclair. The emotions felt by the charaters were heartwarming. Lois is touched by the return of Kal-El, who she felt some affection for when they first met as kids. Kal-El wants to protect her from Sinclair, who wants to take vengeance on General Lane's children. Well, you know that Sam loved Kal as the son he never had. It was through Sam that Kal grasped some morality and kindness. What Flash said in Flashpoint #3 turned out to be true, Superman is a good person, no matter where did he come from or who raised him.
Some of the things I don't like is that Kal suddenly talks normally while earlier issues depict him as a very shy person who is afraid at the sight of others.
This is an issue I recommend. Good reading!
