Finale to a great Flashpoint tie-in

    The Story:

FLASH FACT: Subject Zero. Subject One. There can only be one.

Neil Sinclair is no more. His transformation into Subject Zero has destroyed his former self and turned him entirely into a merciless warrior with an unquenchable thirst for power and vengeance. As he sets out to destroy all meta-humans who pose as threats to his dominance, it’ll be up to Kal to protect Lois from this monster seeking to exact revenge on the Lane family. But when Subject Zero tracks them down and their reunion is interrupted, Kal will have to become the Superman he is inside to take on the battle. The question is: can he do this in time to save Lois?

    My Soap Box:

I am a huge Superman fan and was very curious to see what Scott Snyder could do as far as a story in the Flashpoint Universe.  He was joined by Lowell Francis, whose name I was not familiar with, and Gene Ha who is one of my most loved artists.  So the ingredients list is one to my liking.  Add in subject Zero and it is all over!

     The Review:

Wow!  That was the first word out of my mouth when I set the book down.  We see our Superman still looking emaciated and resembling Steve Rodgers pre-super solider serum.  However, he has his well known powers and is looking to use to save Lois.  As previously seen she was a girl he met before and developed a strong tie to.  This as always is fitting for a Superman book.  Subject Zero leaves destruction in his wake as he escapes his confines to find Subject One.  His desire to join with hit to destroy all Meta-humans in his attempt to do his version of good.  The two Subjects meet in a fitting conflict that leads to a difficult and for me emotional ending of the story.  How will this ending tie in to Flashpoint #5 I don't know but that doesn't detract from the greatness of this mini and this issue in particular?  Subject One will be a Superman that is evident.

The visuals are a huge part of the story telling in this series and Ha's art really matches the emotions of the story.  It lends emotion in all the right amounts and in the right strength!  Gene Ha needs to do more work in the DCnU!

    What you should do:

Well if you haven't been reading the Mini now is not the time to jump on.  However, if your retailer has the first two issues on their shelf get them and this issue and enjoy the ride.

      great ending! 0

I was a big fan of this mini-series the whole way through.   I was a little disappointed at first with the soldier because I thought they were pulling a Lois Lane and the Resistance on me.   But the idea seemed intriguing.   And in the end of the first issue Superman arrives on Earth.   Which blew me away because they did a great job with misdirection.   I thought he was being combined with Superman’s DNA!   The second one introduced him meeting Lois which I saw as one of those things that show...

A Hero Discovers his Destiny 0

This impressive Flashpoint back-up series reaches its epic conclusion. Kal-El, aka Subject One, arrives at England, occupied by Amazon forces, to protect Lois Lane from the ruthless and vengeful Neil Sinclair, aka Subject Zero. The battle between the two is awesome, as the skinny Kal-El can hold his own against the monstrously huge Sinclair.  Gene Ha's art fits with Scott Snyder's writing, as the two managed to portray a remarkable conflict between Kal-El and Sinclair. The emotions felt by the c...
