    Another lightning, please

Flashpoint # 3 - Flash is the only man who can save the DC universe and this book is about him gathering the Justice League with the help of Cyborg and Batman - again I was stunned by Johns' amazing dialogues and the story's pace, also Kubert's strong storytelling and beautiful panels make this a very nice piece of read - there're lots of action, also developments on how Barry plans to get his reallity established again! 4 of 5 stars

Project: Superman # 2 - A very sick and twisted vision of what the government would've done if, instead of farmers had discovered Kal-El, they've captured the alien - the creative efforts are very in sync, offering a great and touching story about a boy who's only trated as an experiment, but wants more - also there's the conclusion of Subject Zero's arc story - I'm very fond of Gene Ha's art, he's one of the best in my opinion and the script is also very solid, this is one of the best tie-ins of this mega event! 4 out 5 stars

Abin Sur - The Green Lantern # 2 - Though I've enjoyed reading a little more about Sinestro and Abin's relationship and how Thaal has knowlegde, provided by Atrocitus, that this reality isn't right, that it was adultered, I find this idea too rushed and not a good pitch for this book, it felt almost like a concept pushed by the editors in order to make this title (and the Green Lantern franchise) important in this event - add to that the fact that I felt this issue totally out of sync with Flashpoint # 3 and having 3 different artists haven't helped either! 2.5 out 5 stars

Batman Knight of Vengeance # 2 - This is a great example of how a tie-in can live separately from the main series, coexisting but not interfering in the main event, yet be so good and interesting, selling the character as a great parallel/alternative take of Batman - Azzarello and Risso are working together now for quite a long time so it's easy to see that this partnership helps the story to flow in such intensity and drama, with a very impressive turn of events, leading to a most dramatic end! - this series has great characters, great dialogues and an amazing art! 5 out 5 stars

Secret Seven # 2 - Actually, what was curiosity has changed into boredom, so what atracted me first about this tien-in has been completely replaced by a confusing story, filled with holes in the narrative, captions too long and a story that, at this point, is proving to be totally inexpressive regarding to the main event - sure that Blanco's art is very precise and good, but that feat alone don't stand as strong enough to compensate for the bad writing - this series is only good (I imagine) for those fans of Shade and the other characters, but for me, who don't know them, this was a complete waste of time and money! 2 out 5 stars

World of Flashpoint # 2 - Probably one of the best tie-ins so far, very solid writing and art, this was very interesting t oread because it sure is living up to it's name, since it showed lots of parts of the world (Brazil, Namibia, Australia, USA) and the main character - the little witch - is definitely a good one (And powerful too) - this tie-in will prove to represent grand repercussions if the H.I.V.E. director is succesfull with his plan! Eduardo Francisco's art is amazing, this is totally worthy! 4 out 5 stars

Deathstroke and the curse of the Ravager # 2 - Aquaman is protecting his territory with fury never seen and Slade made a terrible mistake in crossing his seas, so this issue is all about Aquaman unleashing his madness and raw power against the Ravager, can the terminator prove himself up to the test? Palmiotti's writing is pretty decent, but the art wasn't steady or balanced and I blame DC for making this event without the proper time, having to deploy different artists to fill holes in the same issue (like what happened in this one) - if there's something that makes me edgy in the comic book industry is the constant replacement and changes in the art, I like one artist doing a series and that's it, don't put two people doing the same issue, that's terrible, especially when it's to fill holes! 3 out 5 stars

Citizen Cold # 2 - Good things come when you put an artist who's familiar with the characters to do a gig and this is exaclty the case of this tie-in - not necesseraly connected with the main event, reading this is a good surprise, because seeing Cold as the "hero" while fighting his way throught to defeat his "villain" friends is fun and ironic, also proves what kind of person Lenny really is - Scott Kollins pulled a great job in doing this issue, especially the page where one by one the Rogue take it's time against Cold, but not only the art is good, also teh story is decent and entertaining! 3.5 out 5 stars

Frankenstein and the Creatures of the Unknown # 2 - So this is a tie-in with a life of it's own, not connected withe Flashpoint main event and it's about the Creature Commandos, so if you don't like Frank and the gang, avoid this, but if you're interested in a clever narrative, that is more preocupied with characters' developments than the plot itself, you're in for a treat - Lemire delivers an awesome story that's about the characters' past and future and at the same time gives the story a good pace - the art is very good, even if there is two artists (again), but I prefer Ibraim Roberson. 3.5 out 5 stars

Emperor Aquaman # 2 - If it takes to read a little of Arthur's past in order to understand his cruelty, then Bedard's long and dragging narrative about the Sea King's past totally worthy it, especially because Aquaman is heading to a direct engage with Wonder Woman - this issue faced another change of the artist, but in this case, it was for the better: exits Syaf, enters Vicente Cifuentes and what a beautiful art, this was probably one of the best tie-ins in this feat, he's such a talented artist! Highly recommended! 4.5 out 5 stars

Booster Gold # 46 - This issue was quite amusing for a repetition of an idea, which is Doomsday Vs Booster Gold, but Jurgens managed to infuse some new life into this old killing machine and, though the dialogues were a little off sometimes, the thought of Booster's trying harder and harder to stop the unstoppable, allied with the good art of Jurgens and Ig Guara (again mixed art, but this one worked good, similar styles) made this issue , if not great, at least interesting and entertaining! The main issue about this series is the fact that Booster isn't helping Flash directly, being the only one besides Barry to know that this world is fake, I expected a more important role from him. 3 out 5 stars

Wonder Woman and the Furies # 2 - This is a travel back in time presented with great story and dialogues by DnA, showing a little more about Diana and Arthur's past, how they were once allies and how war brew and escalated to the point of world ruin - I like a lot this kind of reminiscent stories, especially when the writer can deliver such texture and colorful events, liberating us poor readers of the burden of only imagining what happened or what if? The only thing that bugs me in the script is how naive both Diana and Arthur were to not become suspicious after so many coincidences (fatal ones) - another replacement in the art department: exits Scott Clark, enters Augustin Padilla - he handled ok the shoes of the previous artist, but it's very sad that DC keeps this policy of changing the creative team like this, it's an afront to the readers! 3.5 out 5 stars

The Outsider # 2 - In the Flashpoint universe that's the book of crime lords, this is the true face of a man who has no morals, whose only rightneouss is his ambitions for power and money, who will use the war in his own petty needs, to control the world - The Outsider is a clever construction of a crime master, ruthless, willing to go beyond any frontier to get and reach his goals, the true DC Kingpin, and his role in this dying world is of a very importance: to profit even from it's destruction - surprinsingly James Robinson created a good background story for David, mixing and balancing his past (in flashbacks scenes) with the current time, resulting in a very fluid and original plot - Javi Hernandez art, full of life, authentic and vibrant, is just the cherry in the top of this beautiful, intricated and well arranges comic book, that has a very interesting sotry and a twist in the end, Highly Recommended! 4.5 out 5 stars

Legion of Doom # 2 - If not for the violence (believe me, this issue makes American Histoy X and Fight Club look like a kids movie), this tie-in at least stands out for the original and entertaining aproaches on characters such as Animal Man, Plastic Man and Heatwave, but the plot (bunch of villains trying to break free of a prision) and the dialogues aren't top notch, making this series just warm - Rodney Buchemi (another dude from Brazil) did a great work here though. 3 out 5 stars

Deadman and the Flying Grayson # 2 - Again DC fools fans and readers, changing the artist of this series: one of the main rasone for me buying this number was to follow the excellent Miel Janin (he was the penciler of issue # 1 and currently of Justice League Dark), so you can imagine the deception when I saw this was Fabrizio Fiorentino with other guy, hey don't get me wrong, I like Fiorentino's work, but this attitude of DC upseted me a lot - at least this story is somehow connected with the main event, since it's mostly about the amazons searching for the Helm of Nabu (Dr. Fate), but neither dialogues or the story itself were fantastic or thriiling. 2 out 5 stars

Hal Jordan # 2 - Just to begin with, another change in the art department: exitsBen Oliver, enters Cliff Richards (another guy from Brazil), totally different styles, another mess and disrespect from DC - and what a quick read, it took me 5 minutes to read this issue - apart from pitching Hal Jordan as the new american hero, this issue was so weak, a complete nonsense: why would the amazonians attack USA soil? Totally nonsense, boring tie-in, avoid this! 1 out 5 stars

Kid Flash Lost # 2 - This was a pretty exciting issue, balancing the right amount of dialogues between Kid Flash and Hot Pursuit, with the desirable amount of action and clever thinking to overrun Brainiac, opening an escape route so can Bart can help Flash - Oliver Nome is an amazing artist, I really liked his style, mixing a little of manga (just a spice) - though this is happening in the 31st century, long ago the Flashpoint event, I've high hopes that Bart will come back and help the heroes - Sterling Gates did a very good job in the story, dialogues and narrative, great pace, a complete balance of captions and dialogues balloons, a comic book in harmony! 3.5 out 5 stars

Lois Lane and the Resistance # 2 - Spinning out of Flashpoint # 3 Grifter and his resistance get acquainted with Lois LAne and they have a very important mission in order to save Great Britain and what's left of Europe - I guess this issue was ok, though most part of the story was a get-to-know-basics on how the resitance was formed, a little of Grifter's past - there's enough of adventure and the rhyms of Etrigan are great, so is Gugliotta's art who, though isn't the original artist (issue # 1 was Eddie Nunes), delivered a great material here. 3 out 5 stars

Wrapping up I definitely recommend reading Flashpoint # 3, Batman # 2, The Outsider # 2, Project: Superman # 2, Emperor Aquaman # 2 and World of Flashpoint # 2 - the rest of the issues are dispensable!

Flashpoint 3 picks up immediately after the last issue. The Flash, Barry Allen, lies almost dead, covered in third degree burns after attempting to regain his powers in what was frankly the funniest way possible. Thomas Wayne, this timeline's Batman, stands at his side. The interaction between Barry and Thomas is great. Azzarello said he writes Dr. Wayne like Clint Eastwood in Gran Turino, and it shows in the main title as well. So, if you want a portrait of Barry and Tom, picture Kowalski talki...

What if Superman was not raised by the Kents? 0

Cover I had not read the Project Superman mini series so I was kind of scared that I would be lost if I did not read mini series because on the cover it says Project Superman in big fancy letters. But I was still very excited to see what Project Superman was all about. Story Batman and Flash work together to get his powers back. At first it did not work but they did not stop trying because if they gave up the world the Flash knew could be gone forever. Once the Flash got his powers back t...
