Flash Movie how could it work?

How could a stand alone flash movie work? I know he is a popular comic book character but what does flash have to offer mainstream movie goers by himself?.

There is virtually no controversy around the character. No real HYPE outside of comic-book circles. A flash movie would have to be EXTREMELY well told and fleshed out to be a hit. Not just a special effects show like Green Lantern.

If Geoff Johns is in anyway involved with the movie then it will be a hit.

A film would help boost the hype...people made a big deal out of Green Lantern before it came out, and I don't imagine that the Flash would receive a treatment too dissimilar.

Like @CrimsonCake: said, it depends on the writing team (I'd personally love Johns to be involved in all DC film projects)

Well he didn't have that much control. If he could help contribute to the story then it will be good.

Origins story shaken up a bit.

It starts with Barry Allen, forensic scientist for the Central City police department. A recent series of murders have broken out that leave police baffled. Upon reviewing video tapes of some of the murders, it appears that the victims simply dropped dead without any known cause. One night, after gathering evidence and returning to the lab, Barry is then struck by lightning, dosing him in chemicals. He then realizes that he obtained super speed from the blast, and decides to use it to stop crime and figure out who the murderer is.

It is later revealed that the murderer is Eobard Thawne, codename, Zoom. He is a time traveler who obtained powers to be like his hero of the past, the Flash. One day he decided to build a "treadmill" to allow him to travel back to the 21st century to meet Flash, however the journey left him mentally unstable, and thinking it was his destiny to "create the Flash" by committing the very crimes that lead Barry to work late and be struck by lightning (Zoom killed the people using super speed, going so fast that the cameras couldn't see him) thus they clash in the climax of the movie.

Epilogue- Upon hearing of the new Scarlet Speedster hero, several ''blue collar' criminals decide to band together to watch each other's backs encase he came for them, thus creating The Rogues.

There are tons of people involved in it. Theres a harry potter scribe in it also, yet harry potter was brilliantly done.

I don't think we can blame everyone involved in GL. For one, GL was closer to the comics than any other DC film.
