Origin

When Angelica first discovered her powers when they came about at age 13, both Charles Xavier (Professor X) and the Emma Frost felt it. They both tried to get Angel to go to their schools, but Emma sweet talked her into her school, Massachusetts Academy. Emma put Angel under a minimal mind control, kept her away from fellow students, and unknowingly to Angelica trained her to be an assassin. When she was sent to kill Xavier, he was able to break her of all control.

She later was manipulated into joining the New Warriors where she met her goofy future fiancé Vance Astrovik (Marvel Boy/Justice). She later proved herself to be vital in the Maximum Carnage storyline when Carnage gets his power upgrade. Her microwave-based powers are the only thing still effectively able to hurt Carnage. But even with all of his murders she refuses to kill him herself.

After the New Warriors series ended they joined the Avengers after proving their worthiness by taking down the supervillain Whirlwind, who had foiled most of the other Avengers at once.

Angelica learned that her powers were slowly causing her to become sterile and began to use her powers more sparingly. She later told the team of her condition and Dr. Hank Pym created a uniform that would siphon off excess radiation so it would not harm her any longer.

Firestar and Vance retired from super heroism to concentrate on their relationship education, but soon after called their engagement off; Angelica felt that she hadn't experienced enough of life on her own, and felt apprehensive about getting married. She tried to settle into a normal life, going to college and living on her own. Shortly thereafter, however, she and the majority of Earth's heroes were faced with the Superhuman Registration Act, which would force them to reveal their civilian identities to the general public. Tired of the lifestyle of a hero, Angelica responded by giving up her status as Firestar, and retiring from heroism altogether.

When M-Day took its many victims, Firestar became one of the few mutants who retained their powers. She was not among the team of New Warriors who died during the explosion in Stamford.

It has been stated that Angelica will resume her role as Firestar in the near future as a member of a new team of superhumans assembled by [[Cable]]. The tean will travel to the future to protect the mutant baby who was recently the focus of the [[Messiah Complex]] storyline.
