Fifth Hokage

Origin

Tsunade is the Fifth Hokage of Konoha sought after the death of the Third Hokage. She is the granddaughter of the Hashirama Senju also known as the First Hokage. She was given her grandfather's crystal necklace which represented anyone she deemed worthy of becoming Hokage. Tsunade was also considered being a princess as her family founded all of Konoha. She eventually becomes a student under Hiruzen Sarutobi before he became the Third Hokage. Tsunade came to be teamed with Orochimaru and Jiraiya. They shared a relationship similar to that of Naruto and Sakura with Sasuke as the outsider due to lost of family. Tsunade has always excelled at chakra control and dodged Jiraiya's lewd advances towards her. She began practicing medical ninjutsu after her boyfriend Dan's little sister was killed in battle. They both wanted a medical ninja to be on every team of Konoha.Time would pass and the Second Great Ninja War would begin. This war would cost Tsunade her little brother and the man she loved. Tsunade was present for Dan's final moments. She tried to save him but failed, and developed a fear of blood as a consequence of that failure. It is also the war that gained her the title as one of the Legendary Sannin. She along with Jiraiya, and Orochimaru were able to stand their ground against Hanzo of the Salamander, a legendary ninja that had killed off every other enemy ninja on the battlefield. Eventually Tsunade would leave the village like Jiraiya and Orochimaru all for their own reasons. Tsunade became a compulsive gambler and largely in debt. She became good friends with Shizune, Dan's niece. They travel everywhere together with Shizune taking care of loose ends for Tsunade most the time.

Search For Tsunade

Tsunade was winning alot of money in the casino she was at. She had a bad feeling because she was winning so much so she left. The next day she ran into Orochimaru preparing to make a deal. He would give back Tsunades brother and her lover if she fixed his arms. Tsunade was considering on what she would do. Shizune was against this idea not trusting in the likes of Orochimaru. She also wanted Tsunade to take in consideration the feelings of Dan and Nawaki.

After Naruto and Jiraiya found Tsunade they all had dinner together and Jiraiya asked Tsunade if she would be the next Hokage because her Grandfather was the first and the founder of the leaf village. Naruto went crazy saying that he was supposed to be the next hokage. Jiraiya told him that he still had a long way to go and the village needed a new leader. Tsunade politely refused. Then she asked why would anyone want to give their life for someone else. Naruto yelled at her and Tsunade challenged him to a fight.

The Fight

When her and Naruto were both outside Tsunade lifted one finger and said this is all I need. After she said that Jiria told her not to show off. When Tsunade said come and get me Naruto pulled out a kunie and ran towards her. When he came arms length she plucked him. This pluck took off his headband and knocked the kunie out of his hand. He went flying into the air and when he landed his headband and kunie landed right beside him. He was stunned by her strength for a second but when he recovered he got back up. When he got back up he tried to do Rasengan on her. Tsunade was suprised that Naruto was trying the fourth hokages jutsu. Naruto failed to finish the jutsu and Tsunade looked like she was no longer surprised but mad. She started to yell at Jiria and ask why he taught him the Rasengan when he knew that only he and the fourth could complete that jutsu.

The bet

After Tsunade said that Naruto could not do the Rasengan he told her he could perfect in a week. Tsunade took this as a bet and she said ok whats in it for me. Naruto said "If I can't perfect the Rasengan in a week than we won't bug you anymore about why your not going to be hokage. If I can perfect the Rasengan in a week than I want that Necklace you have around your neck.

The Necklace of Death

When Naruto said this Tsunades eyes went wide and she remembered the first time she gave the necklace to someone. The first person she gave the necklace to was her little brother Nawaki. She hoped this would fuel his aspirations to become Hokage. Nawaki would die the next day. The paramedics told her his body was so twisted up that you couldn't even tell who it was.Dan was the second person to receive the necklace. This was due to Dan revealing hopes to become Hokage and better the village. Dan would also die and in front of Tsunade as well.Tsunade loved Shizunes uncle and was grief stricken.

Orochimaru's Deal

Nearing the end of the bet Orochimaru along with Kabuto to secretly make a deal. The deal is that if Tsunade heals his sealed arms he will bring back her brother and boyfriend. Tsunade decided to go agree to Orochimaru's terms. Shizune tried to stop her but was rendered unconcious. Tsunade and Orochimaru met in private to begin the treatment. Kabuto interfered aware of the improper form of chakra that was not intent to heal. Jiraiya and Naruto arrived in time to aid Tsunade. Jiraiya proceeded to faceoff with Orochimaru. Kabuto would deal with Tsunade to discover her fear of blood. He capitalized on this advantage until Naruto fought in Tsunade's stead. Naruto became unable to fight after Kabuto severed his nerves. Tsunade overcame her hemophobia to save Naruto and incapacitated Kabuto. She joined Jiraiya to duel with Orochimaru. She summons Katsuyu for the first time to aid in the battle. Tsunade displayed tremendous strength when she was able to lift Gamabunta's blade to pin down Manda. This finished with Orochimaru receiving a volley of punches from Tsunade meant to kill him but Orochimaru's body was modified to give him virtual immortality.

Sasuke Retrieval

One day Sakura reports that Sasuke has left the village for Orochimaru. Tsunade tells Shikamaru to make a team but the team must have Naruto in it. Shikamaru then gathers his team which consist of himself, Naruto, Neji, Choji, Kiba and Akamaru.

While that is going on Tsunade had completed her studies on how to heal Rock. This treatment would allow him to fight once more and join his friends in a climatic battle near the Valley of the End.

Hidan and Kakuzu

Later in the Shippuden series. Two Akatsuki members Hidan and Kakuzu enter the Land of Fire heading towards Konoha. Tsunade then summons the Niju Shota to look and maybe capture the Akatsuki. Though it didn't happen the one Akatsuki member was dead and the other was beheaded, but still living due to his special abilities. Tsunade performed an an autopsy on Kakuzu, and found Naruto's jutsu, Wind Release: Rasenshuriken to be highly dangerous for use based on Kakazu's body and Naruto's arm.

Invasion of Pain Later Tsunade has a meeting with Jiraiya in which she sends him on a mission to Amegakure to spy and find the leader of Akatsuki. After Jiraiya is killed by Pain one of Jiraiya's Toads informs Tsunade who then informs Team 7 in which Naruto lashes out at her for sending Jiraiya on such a dangerous mission. After Naruto's mourning of his mentor Tsunade sends him on a mission to learn the Sage art jutsu from Fukasaku. When Pain actually invades Konohagakure, Tsunade tries to send word for Naruto to return from Mount Myoboku but is detoured by the Konoha Council and then her messenger is killed by Danzo (albeit without her knowledge). Tsunade then summons Katsuya and tells her to divide protect and heal villagers and to keep ninjas informed. Tsunade then put in a seal to dispell her chakra to Katsuya. Tsunade is then confronted by the Deva Path of Pain who is one of the orphans that Jiraiya had years ago had trained and who Tsunade recognized as such. When the Human Path learns of Narutos location through the process of absorbing Shizunes soul and reading her mind, the Deva Pain then uses his gravity based powers to destroy the village. However Tsunade uses most of her chakra and gives it to Katsuya to protect the villagers from the attack. Tsunade swiftly goes to destroyed Pain however she is almost killed by Asura Path however Naruto shows up in the nick of time to destroy Asura. Naruto then informs her that he could feel chakra and didn't feel Kakashi's and asked her if she had sent him on a mission to which she didn't answer. Tsunade soon reverts to her actual form and is in a coma due to her using up so much chakra and the chakra she had stored in her forehead.

Confining of the JinchurikiAt the beginning of this arc Tsunade is shown with Shizune who is crying. It is later revealed that Tsunade has awaken out of her coma and is in need of plenty of food to keep herself in her younger form. Shizune is mistaken when she believe Tsunade wanted to eat her pet pig Tonton. However she was looking at Kakashi who had just come in a told her that he was awoken because he was scared that he was going to be appointed Hokage. After that she goes to the meeting of Kages where she is preferred other than having the now deceased Danzo as Hokage. When the Kages talk about hiding the jinchuriki she and A she is fully against it until she is persuaded by Gaara because he knew Naruto so well. The Kages so agree on sending the Jinchuriki away to "Monster Island".

Abilities

Using precise chakra control, Tsunade is able to focus chakra throughout her body giving her massive strength, enough to split the ground in two with just her finger.

There is diamond-shaped mark on Tsunade's head which is part of a hidden seal that covers some of her body, she uses this "Secret Mark Seal" to store chakra in and is able to use that chakra when needed. She'll use this in junction with "Creation Rebirth," a technique which speeds up cellular creation and regeneration to heal her body, rendering her almost immortal on the battlefield. But this happens at a cost though since this shortens her life span each time she uses it. She also has an electrical technique called "Important Body Points Disturbance." With this technique she sends an electrical current through her opponent's body by touching them. This doesn't physically harm the opponent, however the brain and body coordinates it's motor functions through electrical pulses, thus Tsunade's technique disrupts those pulses causing the opponent's body to react differently than they want it to.

Being a medical specialist, Tsunade's able to use techniques such as: "Mystical Hand" where she focuses chakra in her hand that speeds up the healing process of wounds, for herself or others. "Chakra Scalpel" where she focuses chakra around her hand which acts as a blade. Since it's composed of energy, it is completely sterile. And "Poison Extraction" where she uses her chakra to remove poison from one's body. She also is strong enough to use the Forbidden Medical Ninjutsu: "Total Life Sacrifice": where she gives the other person undergoing this, their chakra, total strength, and life force. She is one of the most powerful Kunoichi, and one of the most powerful Medic-Nins in the Naruto universe.

Tsunade also continually uses a transformation jutsu to keep her looking young. The truth is, is that Tsunade is actually as old as Jiraiya but she uses her chakra to help herself look younger. One of her main fears is growing old.She is also capable of summoning a giant slug named Katsuyu which is able to heal others, break off into hundreds of smaller slugs, and spit acid.
