If Fantastic Four #600 was the "battle issue", FF #12 is the new branch off story-line for the children of the Future Foundation. The art in this issue takes a DRASTIC turn from what we have been used to up until this point in the series. While some of it is better (the android loses his need for glasses in the interior and the kids look more like kids), some of it is really strange looking. In fact, it is so strange that it really distracts from the story. It will take a couple more issues of this artist for me to get used to the imagery.
If you can look past the art (that is if it is distracting you), you see a pretty decent story. The kids are safe from all the goings on in Manhattan, and have ended up in a much more interesting place - and it is not the Moon.
The "class project" foreshadowing that I mentioned in the review of the last issue was just that - and it was the plan all along, as in this issue we see a flashback to "months ago" where Val and Nathaniel began their plans...
And it would appear that the class trip is not over yet. This branch of the FF is planning to get right back into the fight - this time, through the Bridge...
