    You're Not My Reed

This issue picks up where the last left off. All the plot paths continuing as expected. The Old Atlantis does get feel rushed, but the point is made - the Reeds will stop at nothing to accomplish their goals.

We see a lot more character development. Ben is still dealing with the loss of Johnny (and apparently is written to be the only one heavily affected). The "meeting of the minds" is interrupted so that Reed can figure out what happened to Sue, Peter and Alex, while the villains have to sit and wait - it is a pretty interesting dynamic, especially with the kids still policing the place with their suction cup guns.

During the struggle at New Atlantis we see Alex get some battle time, and scars. He fares pretty well considering. Sue is taken off guard by a doppelganger, but manages to keep things together long enough to get the team safely home. After the struggle at New Atlantis, Sue returns home hurt that Reed has been keeping a very big secret from her - something that I didn't actually realize, as I thought she was in on the whole "Reeds problem".

The story ends with the Reeds, as they meet to enact their plan. One thing that I didn't understand is why the High Evolutionary doesn't realize the Reeds are in the Forever City. I would have assumed he had some kind of security system. Either way, the story ends with a cliffhanger, one that even the Reeds didn't see coming.

Hickman's run on the Fantastic Four and FF has been truly (forgive me) fantastic with plot threads constantly being set aside and picked back up when you least suspected. Thing's survivor's guilt and increasing sense of alienation in the Future Foundation has been in the background of more exciting/important events to date, but seeing him get a chance to talk it out with Alicia, who he hasn't seen since the week he was cured, was vitally important for the character. Chances are we'll need Thing ...

Cover:   A cover that spoils the interior content is ruinous and kind of sucks, even if it's as cool as this one is.  The Good:   This issue has terrific storytelling.  Hickman can tell a story like it's nobody's business and it's very evident here why he's one of the best at what he does.  As others have mentioned, the character development has been the strongest suit of this series, and it continues to shine in this issue.  The scenes with Ben Grimm and Alicia are great; it's good to see tha...
