    Oh yeah...there was a war going on ....

    With FF #8 we're finally returned to the present.  Thank goodness.  I'm sure the Black Bold lore was fun for a certain segment of the FF readers, but I was pretty bored when it was the only thing I had to read for FF for a month.  This issue seemed to be a great setup for the climax.  And that must be coming because Marvel has been teasing some surprises in store for November's issues that don't seem to have anything to do with the War of Four Cities. 

    The good thing about this issue was that we got to see the continued stress caused on Susan by all of this.  And Nathaniel goes back to what nearly all incarnations of him end up as - being a bit of a smug, time-traveling jerk.  There's also a fun little scene were we see what being grounded by a dad like Reed is like.  Curious to see if Val ends up causing even more trouble than she already has or if she saves the day.

    And we finally get to the Battle at the Forever City.  Apparently Reed comes to a cliff hanger-y conclusion before being whisked away.  I'll be curious to see what Hickman has up his sleeve.  Also, it appears that Hickman believes that there's no honor among theives because,

      The action finally resumes at the Forever City. Do you remember where we were two issues ago? The Reeds were striking a deal with the evolved moloids when the Inhumans arrived on scene.       The Universal Inhumans make a play to take the Forever City as the FF and their newest villainous members enter the fray.  The Good Many weren't too thrilled with the last two issues that reintroduced Blackbolt and The Inhumans. As a huge fan of those characters, longtime reader of Hickman's Four, and appreciator of all things cosmic in the Marvel U I loved them.
