It takes a while, but we have the glint of action on the horizon. It is nothing like what the cover would have you believe, but there is some action at the end, nonetheless. Be warned, it is the end you have to wait for, if you are looking for the action, as this book starts out in the kitchen. Crust or no crust, is the question - Spidey decides he will shake things up this time and go sans-crust. As a whole, we learn far too much about sandwich preferences.
Elsewhere, the meeting of the minds continues as Reed tries to impress on those gathered that the problem with the Reeds is far more grave than they could imagine. We see some classic villain thinking when it comes to the brainstorming session. Nathaniel then states that everyone is thinking about the problem the wrong way. Val provides a little more information and things start to pick up, but nothing is decided.
During this riveting conversation, we see Ben waiting outside for a struggle that never happens. The kinds a playing around with suction cup guns, and Dragon Man is assisting Alex with an aquarium malfunction. Once we have an idea where everyone is and what they are doing, a strange noise is heard. Apparently Sue has never been summoned by the Spiral before, otherwise they would have recognized it right away.
All this, and still no action. Gladly, Sue takes Spidey and Alex to Old Atlantis to check out the disturbance she has been summoned for - this trip finally turns into something exciting. Too bad we have to wait until the next issue to find out what.
The best (and most redeeming) part of the book is during the "Reeds problem" discussion. Reed lets Doom know just how his counterparts are treated throughout the Omniverse. Doom's expression was priceless.
