    What Does Spider-Man Fear?

Spider-Man enters Fear Itself, Marvel's current major event. This miniseries shows his involvement without interrupting the flow of his regular series.

    The Good

Spider-Man has always been a hero for the people. He may be an Avenger and a member of the Future Foundation but when New York City starts going wonky, it makes perfect sense that Spidey will be there to help out. Fear is something we all have from time to time. No matter how safe or comfortable your life may be, there's always the uncontrollable that could pop up at any moment. We've seen Spider-Man in the background in Fear Itself #2 but here, we get Spidey on his own, trying to help and make sense of the change New York City is going through. We also get a mention/reminder that Spider-Man has lost his spider-senses, something that seems to be forgotten often.

    The Bad

It's a three issue mini-series. I feel like three issues almost isn't enough to tell a full story. Based on what happens in this issue, there doesn't seem like a lot happening. It is good that Spider-Man is available to help the people of New York City but part of his appeal is his villains. We don't really see much in terms of the bad guys. The one we do see isn't one I really care for. Normally I get excited when reading a Chris Yost comic but, again, based on this issue, it doesn't feel like much will happen. The art was okay but Spider-Man was drawn/colored wearing a red and black suit instead of blue. The black with read can look cool but it almost feels like it's to avoid detail in Spider-Man's arms and legs.

    The Verdict

Fear Itself writer has said that you don't have to read the spin-off mini-series to understand the entire story. Chris Yost shows us Spider-Man dealing with some of his own fears as well as the fears of many of New York City's residents. As a hero of the people, it makes sense that Spider-Man will be there to help the common man but the lack of an actual battle with one of his colorful enemies makes the issue feel incomplete. Chris Yost normally does an excellent job in his storytelling but I feel like not a lot happened or will happen in this series. The art is acceptable except the use of black instead of blue on Spidey's costume feels like they're trying to avoid any muscle-tone or detail. It may not be fair to judge a mini-series based on a single issue but that first issue should be enough to pull you in and make you want to read the rest.

Finally we talk about Fear in Fear Itself 0

Cover The best thing about this cover is the art. I have not seen great Spider-man art in a long time and this cover shows that great Spider-man art is possible. Something that caught my eye is of course the title Fear Itself. Fear Itself is a big event for Marvel and seeing Spider-man and Fear Itself next each other got me excited to pick this issue up. But I hated the concept for the cover. To tell you the truth it did not make sense to me. They could of used something else to represent fe...

      Fear itself reaches spider-man! 0

A fear itself tie in that doesn't cost you 3.99! my wallet is relief (unlike all those useless ones from shadowland which could had been better if they were sold by this price as well) This mini Involves our favorite web-swinger facing off against a enemy that can't be seen or fought with fists: "fear"The good:Apparently you don't have to read any of the tie-ins to understand the full event but is an expansion which is great as depicted in the current main tittle that I'm loving it as well, this...
