From the Skin of Atlantean
This prologue to "Fear Itself" was important for showing how Sin is planning on taking down the world to her feet, but if it wasn´t for the amazing art of Eaton and the fact that Brubaker knows so well how to use Bucky and Captain America this would be a total failure if you analyse only the aspect of introducing a major event. I don´t think this book contained enough explanations of how Sin managed to obtain all the info about her daddy´s oldest secrets and instead of putting action into this one shot (the battle involving Captain America, Bucky and Namor against a frost giant from Jotunheim in the ice cold of Antartica), there could have more focus about the Hammer, about what the Red Skull and the Thule learned in all those years about it and how Sin had a key to open the door in Skull´s hidden base - unfortunally this prologue felt to me like another boost for Captain America upcoming movie, that´s all. It was weird putting Brubaker into this, especially because in the arc story The Trial of Captain America, when Sin last appeared, there´s no mention to a secret book, a secret base or her design´s or plans to do anything similar like what this issue showed, so this absolute lack of continuity really upsets me a lot. The best thing about this issue is the chance of seeing the amazing art of Scot Eaton, penciling Cap, Bucky and Namor (even Sunny Gho´s colors were ok in this), but the dialogues were kinda of dull (proving that Brubaker wasn´t confortable doing this issue), but the best about the writing was Sin´s caption thoughts of how she´ll become more of whatever her father was, because she´ll accomplish what he couldn´t do: rule the world. It was an interesting read, but not vital to follow Fear Itself, you can go by without it.
