    Fear Itself's first casualty...

Last issue, I bitched that it was a bit of slow going, and that it was time to get into the meat of the story. Well, Marvel heard and answered, and now we've got a war. Coordinated attacks all across the world are wreaking havoc, and it's up to the combined might of Marvel's superheroes to reign it in. She-Rulk and The Avengers are handling the Worthy Hulk, Thing becomes Worthy, and Loki's staging a jailbreak for Thor. Of course, that last bit goes awry, but in a way that works out in the long run. And, of course, like I mention in the title, one major Marvel superhero bites the big one, just in time for the summer blockbuster season(sorry, spoilers, I know, but c'mon, who didn't see it coming?). Overall, this is  a step in the right direction for this event, but I'm still not 100% sold. I guess next month will be the make or break point for my interest in this series. The art was pretty great all over the place, and I especially love the brief flash we got of Thing's Worthy form. It looked genuinely unsettling. Overall, it's good, not great. If you haven't been reading it already, I can't recommend it, but for those looking to stick with it, I'd say give it one more issue at least.

The supposed "shock ending to end all shock endings" turns out to be a moment many readers expected to come since before Fear Itself started and a moment rather painfully foreshadowed from the very first pear of the story.  It is beginning to be difficult to get a feel for what exactly the meat of Fear Itself's story is. We have characters behaving as if it i...

Massive Spoilers Ahoy: Fear Itself on the Upswing 0

It seems like last week we had a few problems with spoilers in posts. This week, I'm going to give you fair warning: there will be spoilers in this post. Big ones. Because take it from me: stuff happens in this issue. The GoodHoo boy. Bucky's dead. Or dying. Or in a coma. Out of action. Kaput. Seeing white. He's missing a (bionic) arm and has a big ol' hole in his chest. And I honestly didn't see it coming. While this might seem a bit weird to point out, I find it comforting that the comic industry...
