    Fear Itself #2 - a quick look

I haven’t gotten into the extra Fear Itself books yet, only read the first two issues so far. Right now I’m on the fence. The art looks great, but the story and characterizations… meh. I’m behind on Thor, so Odin being back is a surprise for me, along with his pissed off attitude. Not that he was all touchy-feely with his emotions, but he is like Old Testament, old world gods kind of pissed off. And that’s just him having a normal conversation with his son! The Worthy is a pretty cool concept, with only one let down: I know it won’t stick. Maybe with one or two characters, but Hulk and Thing won’t stay in their Worthy alt-persona.

Like I said, the art is great. I love everything that Immonen is doing. The designs, some supplied by Marko Djurdjevic, are awesome. That goes with the issue with the Worthy that I have, most or all of the costumes won’t stick around.

So far, Fear Itself is okay, but I’ve read better story arcs that would make a better event. It’s still early though. FYI, there is hardly any hero face time in this issue. Like someone else put it, this is the gearing up, big evil speech issue with tons of foreboding. That would be my biggest con here: one major scene of bad stuff, lots and lots of "sound" snippits from (assumingly) TV news programs, and hardly any hero presence. Hopefully the heroes put in an appearance in the next issue.

Fear Itself rolls on with issue number two: with five issues to go (and tie-ins), has Fraction earned himself some wiggle room? The Good Fat Cobra is being previewed to be in crossovers. That's my favourite thing about the issue. Not that I hated the rest of it; I just really liked Immortal Iron Fist. I really like the aesthetic of the hammerbearers. The art is amazing in this issue; that's all Immonen. I like the contrast in styles between the Avengers, Nazi and Serpent portions of the story,...

Cover I really love this cover and it seems that every issue they are going to change the color. I think that is pretty cool. Also the art I am very satisfied with and it is great that it is the same art as inside the issue. Story Flying hammers crash down to earth and have chosen people to wield it. But no one can explain why they are crashing down to earth not even the superheroes. Best Part In Book One the only characters that really shined were Captain America and Thor. You had to...
