As a true Fathom fan this issue said alot to me.The Blues are cool quite unique but i like the blacks. They would make a awesome foe.Im glad that Aspen doesnt fully embrace their philosophies although we dont discover this until the next issue.Aspen Mattthews is almost forced back into the blacks embrace which in the comic looks kind of scary.Truely, Fathom in 2005 is alot better under Michael Turner's new Aspen MLT than it ever was before while he was in Top Cow. Anyway, (spoiler) Aspen discovers that her father ends up being a black. So she is half blue/black. Her real mother was a blue and although it was rare Aspen's father would come up to the underwater city of the blue and that was the only time when they would be able to spend time together.
For those who dont know Aspen you might be confused at the significance of such an event. Blacks live deeper in the ocean than any blue would. To such a point that Blues considered blacks to be old myths of the blues.
Anyway,it was a great issue.
