Xanshi's Vengeance
Yrra Cynril was not only a native of the planet Xanshi but a member of the ruling family. As the eldest daughter, she was sent to the planet Okaara to be trained and educated by the warlords there. She discovered that she excelled in the ways of warfare. It was during her education on Okaara that her homeworld of Xanshi was destroyed due to a mistake made by John Stewart. The news of this cataclysm got back to her, and all she knew was that her whole world had died because of the arrogance of an unidentified Green Lantern. It was then that she swore vengeance on the entire Green Lantern Corps, claiming that all of them would die as her entirety of her people had. She continued her training on Okaara until she exceeded everything the warlords could teach her. Then, she set out on her bloody campaign, hunting and killing Green Lanterns throughout the universe.Having studied her prey extensively, Fatality successfully claimed the life of numerous Green Lanterns. So many died by her hands that she filled a compartment of her ship with trophies of all her many kills. She claimed to have murdered over a hundred Green Lanterns during her killing spree. Even when Hal Jordan destroyed the Green Lantern Corps, she continued on her mission by hunting down former Green Lanterns.
The Last Green Lantern
Fatality eventually discovered that there remained only a single Green Lantern left in the universe and put aside all her other targets to focus on him. She came to Earth, where she found Kyle Rayner. He had no idea who or what she was when she approached him in his civilian life and nearly fell victim to her ambush. She soon withdrew from their battle, realizing that his power ring did not have the 24 hour charge common to power rings of the past. This was beyond what she planned for, so she departed to steal his power battery instead. Kyle was helped in his battle against her by John Stewart, and Fatality had no idea that this was the man responsible for her world's destruction. Kyle told later told her the truth, when their battle had taken them away from Earth, but before she could kill Kyle and go back for John, she was attacked by an alien creature. Kyle believed her to be dead, even though all he could find of her remains was an arm.It was later revealed that Fatality survived, and had her missing arm replaced with a weaponized prosthetic. Nothing short of death was going to stop her, and she returned to Earth to kill Kyle Rayner and John Stewart. By this time, Jade was also a Green Lantern and also a target for Fatality's wrath. During the battle, she was able to take Jade's power ring and use it herself. It was John Stewart who defeated her, using the power put inside him by Hal Jordan to heal his legs. The result was a devastating explosion, and Fatality was once again thought to be dead.
Biding her time, Fatality awoke one day to discover a yellow power ring on her hand. She did not question this suspicious turn of events and set out to face off against Kyle. She lured him out by endangering civilian lives, only as a distraction so she could slip away and abduct John Stewart and Merayn. She tortured Merayn while John watched to punish him, but Kyle was able to intervene before she could do worse. She was defeated by Kyle and asked that he just kill her because she would never stop. Kyle would not, and when he attempted to remove her ring, it detonated. The explosion destroyed her only remaining flesh and blood arm. She was taken in by human authorities and fitted with cybernetic prosthetic.
John Stewart began visiting her in the Slab, wanting to talk to her about Xanshi. She taunted his attempts at therapy with her and his current confinement to a wheelchair. She had an innate ability that allowed her to see the weakness and frailties in things. She told John that what she saw when she looked at him was a man in perfect physical health, meaning he had no spinal damage keeping him in that wheelchair and that it was all in his head. She was later released from the Slab thanks to Major Force using his government contacts. He wanted her to kill Kyle Rayner and bring him the ring. After that, she could kill John Stewart and do whatever else she wanted. All he wanted was Kyle's ring. She was equipped with all the weapons she desired and engaged Kyle in combat, injecting him with a neurotoxin she was certain would cripple his ability to use his ring. Kyle overcame the drug and took her down with a thrown jet.
Fatality kept out of prison this time and joined up with the metacriminals on Earth. She was not going anywhere as long as those she wanted to kill were to be found on Earth. Then, the Green Lantern Corps not only returned but doubled in size from what it previously was. Fatality returned to space, finding her way back to the Vega System where she hooked up with bounty hunters to facilitate her getting to take shots at any Green Lanterns who came into the area. When Sinestro established the Sinestro Corps, she was recruited and given a power ring she could use to kill as many Green Lanterns as she wished.
The Star Sapphire Corps
Fatality was among those female members of the Sinestro Corps apprehended by the Star Sapphire Corps and brought to Zamaron. Rather than be imprisoning her like the Green Lanterns would have, the Star Sapphire's sealed her inside a crystal that attempted to affect her mind and rehabilitate her. The process was quickly completed and she emerged from her crystal cocoon as a Star Sapphire with her first thought being to locate John Stewart.Fatality later located John Stewart on Okaara, while the Green Lantern Corps were engaged in a battle with the Orange Lantern Corps. Separating John Stewart from the fight with a violet crystal, she explained to him that she had changed. The Star Sapphire Corps had made her realize how wrong her previous actions had been and they even allowed her to forgive herself for not being there for Xanshi's destruction. Before leaving John, she told him that next time he grieves among Xanshi's remains he should forgive himself too.
With that business concluded, Fatality returned to Zamaron just in time to defend against an attack by members of the Sinestro Corps who had come to retrieve their captured female members. Even though she was originally one of them, she had already been converted by the Star Sapphire Corps unlike many of the others.
