Skrulls attack!
The event of the summer continues. Is it meeting your expectations? I'm still recovering from last week's massive hit of Secret Invasion tie-ins.
Secret Invasion Continues To Infiltrate & Sell Out Quickly!
The top-selling event of the year continues to steamroll over the competition as Marvel is proud to announce more Secret Invasion tie-in sell outs! Secret Invasion: Fantastic Four #2, Ms Marvel #28, Secret Invasion: Runaways/Young Avengers #1, Mighty Avengers #15 and Avengers: The Initiative #14 have all sold out at Diamond (though copies may be available at the retail level). Marvel currently has no plans to go back to press on these issues which reveal secrets behind the Skrull invasion! How were Hank Pym and Spider-Woman replaced? What can the Human Torch and the Thing do to save the FF? What secret does 3-D Man hold? What do the Skrulls want with Hulking and Xavin? All these answers and more have been revealed—but do you know the truth and who you can trust?
With quick sell outs of virtually all Secret Invasion tie-ins, Marvel urges retailers to check their orders on future issues of Secret Invasion: Fantastic Four, Ms Marvel, Secret Invasion: Runaways/Young Avengers, Mighty Avengers and Avengers: The Initiative! There’s no comic event this year like Secret Invasion and as the story continues, the Marvel Universe finds itself altered irrevocably!
The Invasion continues in these upcoming tie-ins:

Mark Millar is becoming quite the man. His stuff is great. I can't wait to see how exactly 1985 will turn out. The Wolverine story is interesting too. Future stories are always a little hokey but I'm looking forward to it. Marvel's making a little event out of this.
Three universes collide this year during writer Mark Millar’s run on exciting Marvel titles. Beginning with his newest epic tale, 1985, Millar lays down the foundation for things to come as Marvel: 1985, FANTASTIC FOUR and WOLVERINE all intertwine in a very big way. After his run on Ultimates, and his unforgettable blockbuster Civil War, Millar explores remote and familiar corners of the Marvel Universe in ways that only the man behind such past blockbuster series could. Watch as these stories come to life with the help of long time Ultimates collaborator Bryan Hitch, Civil War’s Steve McNiven, and renowned film and comic artist Tommy Lee Edwards.

This post relates to:
Skrulls,
Invisible Woman,
Fantastic Four
Here's a story, of a Skrull named...Suzie?
So we don't know the full details yet. We don't know if Sue is dead (no way) or even missing. The Skrull entered the Baxter Building as a tourist. I do wonder how the Skrull was able to bypass Reed's security. But if they can hide from telepaths and whatnot, I guess they can override Reed's elevator. I'm leaning more towards this was the first time the Skrull entered the Baxter Building. Just like the Skrull in New Avengers that posed as Daredevil most likely hasn't been posing as Daredevil before. That's why there wasn't much interaction before the revelation. The Daredevil one stumbled in his conversation with Echo. The Sue one didn't say a word to Ben, Johnny or the kids. All we know is the building is gonna be pretty messed up.
Either way, I'm really loving the kick ass Alan Davis cover. I'd definitely take that over the variant.
Secret Invasion has begun and the Skrulls have landed the first blow in their war on Earth! In the first issue of Secret Invasion, a Skrull Invisible Woman had the Baxter Building sucked into the Negative Zone and Mr. Fantastic was incapacitated in the most brutal of manners. In the 3-issue tie-in mini-series Secret Invasion: Fantastic Four, it’ll be up to the Thing and Human Torch to get the building and its inhabitants back home, including the young Franklin and Val. But are any of the heroes who they say they are?
Written by Roberto Aguirre- Sacasa (Marvel Knights 4, Sensational Spider-Man) with art by Barry Kitson (The Order), Secret Invasion: Fantastic Four #1 will have a very Skrully-looking variant cover by Mike McKone, seen here for the first time. Plus, this series promises the return of a very familiar Skrull from the FF’s past who’s looking to exact revenge on the First Family of Comics.
The Fantastic Four are the Skrulls’ most hated enemies on Earth so don’t miss Secret Invasion: Fantastic Four for a very important battle in the war for Earth, as Secret Invasion kicks into high gear!

So we know that a Skrull posed as a tourist and changed into Sue in Secret Invasion #1. But how was it able to bypass their security scanner? Was that the first time a Skrull posed as Sue? Logic would have to say no. Poor Reed. First he gets zapped by the Hank Pym Skrull. Now if he manages to pull himself together (literally) he's going to find that perhaps he dear wife is gone or...dead. At least he and Johnny can bond now, having both had wives that were Skrulls...
Marvel is finally able to unveil the full cover to Secret Invasion: Fantastic Four #1 as the team’s betrayer stands revealed as…Sue Storm! But, trapped in the Negative Zone, the FF must figure out if they’re who they think they are and decide who they really trust!

Fantastic Four,

I have to say, it was just an okay issue with me. I'm assuming this first issue is setting things up. But with all the hype, I don't know, maybe I just expected more. It was better than some past recent issues. I suppose you can say there's almost a sense of direction you can see. You know some big stuff is going to be happening. So in that regards, I have to give them credit. Plus the fact that they sold the issue out. That says something.
Marvel is pleased to announce that the hotly anticipated Fantastic Four #554 has sold out at Diamond (though copies may be available at the retail level). The acclaimed dream team that changed superhero comics with Ultimates, writer Mark Millar and artist Bryan Hitch, present “World’s Greatest,” a storyline that takes the FF to places you’ve never seen before! To meet the overwhelming demand for this issue, Marvel is going back to press with Fantastic Four #554 Second Printing Variant, featuring Hitch’s stunning interior art on the new cover!
“First off, a great big thanks,” said Millar. “Our friends all pointed at us and laughed when we said we wanted to put FF back in the top ten, but we love this book. We have always believed in it and are both just delighted to see our naive, slightly deranged enthusiasm reach other people and translate into great sales. A huge thanks from both Scotland and England to everyone who got out there and supported us. We were really, really happy with the numbers, but to hear that the book sold out in a day is just nuts. We promise this is only the beginning and the fun has only begun!”
Bryan Hitch exclaimed, “For my part I'm amazed and delighted. We had hope for a solid sales hike and a confident seller but this has take us completely by surprise, especially as it's such a low-key and quiet start to the run as a whole. I'm currently pencilling the ninth issue and am on the last pages of what may well become a super-sized Christmas special, which if included in the run would make me on issue eleven by now. What's so exciting about the reaction to our first issue is that the best is still to come. I know it's said often enough as hyperbole but having seen the completed eight issues and Christmas special I can really say that the best we have is coming.”
Marvel urges readers to check their orders on all issues of Fantastic Four, with a quick sell out of #554 and Millar & Hitch continuing to draw rave reviews from all corners. Don’t miss Fantastic Four #554 Second Printing Variant, as two of the world’s greatest creators present the world’s greatest comic magazine like never before!

I think it's always hard when a new creative team takes over the Fantastic Four. I love the team but you can't really change things. They've been through so much. Seems like they've done it all. Marriage, separation, kids, miscarriages, kidnappings, team changes, etc. The biggest challenge for a new team is to really put their stamp on the FF to make it their own. This should be interesting to see what Millar and Hitch have up their sleeves.
Marvel is proud to unveil the newest honorary member of the Fantastic Four—superstar artist Simone Bianchi! The hotly-anticipated Fantastic Four #554, from award-winning writer Mark Millar and award-winning artist Bryan Hitch (the dream team behind The Ultimates and Ultimates 2), now features a previously-unannounced variant by Bianchi!
Rocking the Fantastic Four at their core, the year long World’s Greatest storyline will leave you breathless as Millar & Hitch take the FF where no superteam has gone before! Who is MRS. Fantastic? Who joins Invisible Woman’s new team? And just what does Dr. Doom have planned? These answers and more arrive in this all-new, can’t-miss storyline by Millar & Hitch, beginning in Fantastic Four #554, now with a Simone Bianchi variant cover!

X-Men
These are simply the coolest. I bought the Spider-Man one and it was worth every penny (check out my past blog). Okay, I did have a couple gift cards but I still had to pay a bit. If you like having your comics readily available or don't have an insane amount of cash to buy the originals, this is a good way to go. I'm thinking I just may have to get that FF Omnibus. I was bummed when I saw it was sold out and going for crazy amounts on ebay. Too bad for those that actually paid more. But "Omniboo"? Really?
Marvel is pleased to announce that November will see new printings of Marvel’s first three groundbreaking Omnibus Editions. The sold-out Amazing Spider-Man Omnibus Vol.1 HC, Fantastic Four Omnibus Vol.1 HC and Uncanny X-Men Omnibus Vol.1 HC all return featuring all the nuances that make the Marvel Omnibus Editions stand out from the rest. This Marvel format has become so popular that we’ve adopted the word “Omniboo” to describe multiple volumes from this line.
Pioneered by Marvel, these Omnibus Editions are oversized hard covers containing over 30 seminal Marvel issues, featuring rescans from original stats and film, cleaned up to restore it as closely as possible to the original art. The coloring is also re-mastered, restoring it to match the original using modern coloring techniques. The end result is an updated, sharper version of these classic Marvel tales like never seen before! In the coming year, Marvel Omniboo will continue to deliver unique presentations of our most popular stories.
In the coming year, Marvel Omnibus Editions will continue to provide unique presentations of classic Marvel series and put the spotlight on some of the most important moments in comic history. Don’t miss these new printings of Amazing Spider-Man Omnibus Vol.1 HC, Fantastic Four Omnibus Vol.1 HC and Uncanny X-Men Omnibus Vol.1 HC! Make no mistake True Believer, there’s nothing like the experience of reading a Marvel Omnibus!

Say what you will, I liked the movie. Was it great? No. Was I happy with Galactus? No. Was it better than the first? Oh yeah. Was I entertained? Uh huh. So I am going to pick this up. I'm actually going a step further and getting it on Blu-ray. They did a good job on the Silver Surfer. No surprise that there's plans to do solo films with him (I reported that Doug Jones has signed a three picture deal: www.comicvine.com/fantastic-four/3804/news/&newsId=133).
You will have your choice in how you buy the dvd. Besides Blu-ray, you have your regular version (why?) and also the 2 disc "Power Cosmic" version. The Blu-ray will contain everything from the Power Cosmic version and more.
The downside is I'm sure there will be another version released in a year or so. A "2.5" version or Director's cut. Marvel likes the double dipping.
Here's a list of the features and specs:
Single-disc DVD Features:
- Commentary by director Tim Story
- Commentary by producer Avi Arad, writer Don Payne and film editors Peter S. Elliot and William Hoy
