    This issue of Fantastic Four is fondly remembered by creators and fans alike. It introduced the Hate Monger, and in so doing brought real world social issues to the forefront in the Marvel Universe.  Now it's still a Silver Age comic, and prone to some of the weaknesses thereof. There's some small irony in an issue dealing with hatred and prejudice that still embraces jingoism (specifically pro-American and anti-"Russian" sentiments), chauvinism (things said about Invisible Girl in the narration...

    The Hate Monger 0

    One of the few issues of Fantastic Four not to be inked by Dick Ayers in over a year, this latest issue tries to break from the mould a bit thus far established by previous issues and the result is a little less than stellar. While obviously stemming from good intentions, the majority of the Four's adventure this month which deals with hatred, bigotry and injustice, is a little too plain-faced and simplistic to significantly deal with the themes at hand.     The Hate Monger is stirring up trouble across the world, and the Fantastic Four feel powerless to help because of “Freedom of Speech”. As they’re out and about in New York they run into one of his rallies and soon find themselves stepping in regardless. But a dose of the villains Hate Rays has them fighting amongst each other.
