He could alter his faces structure slightly, for long amounts of time, by forcing his facial muscles to make it look different.
Because a criminal has to look exactly the same as the witness says, he couldn`t be acquitted of his crimes.
Though, almost everybody knew that he could do that. But, in court, you need concrete evidence. So, the crook also used a loophole.
