Fall of Cthulhu # 9 - The Gathering Part Four of Five: Masks

This is definitely a odd entry into this story. It is written like it is a cross between a Dr. Seuss book and a Tim Burton film.

The story had me guessing thought the whole thing. i had no idea what was going on until the final page. I questioned continually, 'what is this about?', 'why is this story being told?', 'what is its relevance to this continuing story?' but then I am told... right at the very end.

I still have no idea who the heck Nyarlathotep just recruited, although she wears many faces. I supposed someone that know all the Lovecraftian Gods by heart may be able to point it out to me.

Masks was definitely that. The whole story 'masked' what it was really about until the very end and was interestingly done. Now, if the comic was like this all the time I would never read this thing but as a refreshing change to ensure less repetitiveness (the whole story was about Nyarlathotep recruiting yet another monster by the way, which is what the past few issues have all been about too) it is welcome.

The finale is next. I am itching to find out what the heck is going on and why all this recruiting has been going on!
