    Why I Love Boy Blue

Okay, so I've been reading Fables for sometime now, honestly because its the most-easily found Vertigo comic in this horrid town but I have also come to enjoy the comic. I'm not a full-blown Fables fan, but there are some parts and characters I really enjoy, this one-shot fits into that second category.

See, now I will admit that my tastes in story genres may come into play here, as I have always been a fan of both the fantastical and historical worlds...and this sort of combines the two. Its basically a medieval tale of determination and valor except with those characters we all knew and loved as children, such as Robin Hood, Red Riding Hood and Boy Blue.

Think of it as the last stand at Helm's Deep in Lord of the Rings, except in this version, there is no Gandalf hiding in the bushes with reinforcements. I think the biggest reason I love this story so much, is the fact that in it the characters are forced to see things as they are, rather than be optimistic (aka foolish). This story shows you Blue Boy's mettle, as well as that of other character's, it makes him out to be more than just Snow's little servant boy and rather a heroic figure and a true soldier.

Besides all that it throws in some great tragic romance that no good medieval story can be without. All in all its just a nice little story about a young man who will forever have to bear the burden of remembering this story.

I say even if you don't want to, or haven't yet, read Fables to read this, it requires no prior knowledge on the cast whatsoever though it may still possess the effect of getting you interested in Fables.
