The Eye of Thundera is the iconic image of the Thundercats. It is currently being held in the hilt of The Sword of Omens. The eye is a gem that can modify its appearance from what looks like a cat eye to the classic Thundercats symbol of a silhouette of a cat's face on a red background.
The Eye is the source of the Thundercats' power. It has been wielded by trusted Thundercats and Lords of the Thundercats. The Eye grants the user the power of "Sight Beyond Sight". The wielder can see allies or enemies, see objects, or see when evil is being plotted or committed. The Eye is sentient and often warns the carrier of danger.
The Eye's most famous power is used to call, motivate, or strengthen the Thundercats during moments of need. The wielder of the Sword of Omens can cause the eye to project the Thundercats Symbol as a rallying call to other Thundercats. This rallying call provides a second wind to injured Thundercats, pinpoints the location of the wielder, and can often break down barriers or impediments.
During the Anointment Trails, Lion-o had to prove that he was worthy of the Eye of Thundera and the title of
Lord of the Thundercats. He had to face each Thundercat and earn their Thundercat symbol from them. In turn he had to defeat his greatest enemy,
Mumm-ra, without the aid of the Eye or the Sword.
