Issue #1
The first issue of Volume II in the Legend of Drizzt and I assure you, I was not disappointed. Now I will begin to list the main events in the story and why I enjoyed them.
First off, it is here that we first meet The Hunter, Drizzt's alter-ego that lives for one sole purpose to kill. I enjoyed this A LOT because Drizzt is usually seen as the most gentle of the Drow yet when he becomes the Hunter he is more ruthless than the rest of his race.
Then there is the new character of the issue, Jarlaxle, the mercenary Drow. I grew to like the character when he was bought by the Do'Urden's. I laughed when he blew his whistle and suddenly the army battling House Do'Urden began fighting for them but it just proves the love of gold to a mercenary.
I also enjoyed the fact that the enemy of House Do'Urden was given to them as their daughter rather than killed as they though she should be and so Sinafey Hun'ett became Shinayne Do'Urden.
Then we have the confrontation between Drizzt and his sister, a blood-filled battle that I truly enjoyed I was disappointed when the Hunter was overcome and Drizzt refused to kill his sister but it was still good.
Zaknafein, one of my favorite characters in the series, in this issue, true betrayal is seen when Shinayne is slaughtered so that Zaknafein can be resurrected by Lolth. He then becomes the ultimate killing machine, controlled by Malice who has one mission for him, kill Drizzt. This helps you anticipate some good confrontations that are yet to come...
Finally, we see Drizzt's first attempt at a common theme...seeking acceptance. And so he meets a new friend, that I have come to appreciate, Belwar.
Its a really good comic but is just the beginning for Exile.
