Okay so it's true, I sleep with the light on. Yeah, yeah make fun of me all you want but I can't help it! I was really excited about this when I found out it was coming out last Wednesday. I had so been looking forward to 'Escape From Wonderland" because I just loved the Grimm Fairy Tales series so much. Then I read it. Excuse me while I groan a little. However, like I have often said, it is not my opinion that is the most important; it is yours. Did you guys read it? Did you like this issue or did you feel it was not necessary?
'Escape From Wonderland' #0 Reviewed!

" @Gambler said:Mmmm, nope. Check out her BP and Wonder Woman reviews :)" I love the art. Nice review, might check this out. "ah yes, my arch-nemesis..."art > story"btw, isn't that the same post you make after every video review she posts? "

" Wait...you loved Grimm Fairy Tales? Hmm, that's a variance in taste I guess...I just feel that Zenescope focuses on art rather than story, I'm a story guy, not art, I mean sure the covers look pretty and maybe some of those characters would make good pin-ups on my wall but otherwise I don't think that stuff's for me. Nice review though, loving the text at the bottom there, makes me feel like my deficiencies (lack of sound) are being targeted :D "I'm glad you felt that I had you in mind when I added the ticker. If I review Vertigo, I'll be sure to add text more regularly. Ha. I like Grimm Fairy Tales. Especially Beauty and the Beast!

I was wondering how a #0 would stand out. I thought it would really be #1, but numbered differently to influence sales..... so it seems that they made a Guide to Escape From Wonderland. I have to admit, I tend to like those sorts of issues. The art looks nice, and the twists on classic characters sound intriguing. Although, the Alice in Wonderland theme has been used an awful lot. It's also been used in horror themes before. So hopefully this series has something to set it apart from the rest. Still looks pretty creepy...
Never read any of the Grimm Fairy Tales, but always wanted too. Always appreciated the art that Eric did.
" @Gambler: Thanks. :) I don't think it's worth checking out, I wouldn't pay the 2 bucks, but hey! That's just me,"I'll probably pick it up just for the art. A good story coupled with art is always the objective, but sometimes the art is good enough :)
Thank you sooo much for that review Babs!
I saw it on the front page of Comicvine the other day and I got very interested
So your review really helped.
(:
when i was scared of the dark i would just leave my tv on. im not scared of the dark now, but to this day i still sleep wit my tv on and wit my back to the wall, cause i feel like somebody might sneek up on me.
lol Love the review Babs. Too funny. Me I willingly watch horror movies in the dark to get scared (The Omen and The Thing are teh best for that spooky effect). I haven't tried reading my horror comics before I sleep though. Maybe I'll try that and see what happens.
I picked up Grimm Fairy Tales #1 when it came out for the werewolf. After that, I was just showing my support for a horror book. Good art and ok story but a good premise. Children's story turned horror story. I kept collecting it till the end of the series. I stopped after Wonderland came out. I lost interest. Still its great to see Zenescope out there. Wish I had met the Zenescope girls at Comic-Con. :D
Hmmm.... Not to sure how to say this so I'm just going to jump right in. As to where I think your review was good for the most part, I feel that you missed a few key points about the wonderland series. First this that the house is haunted. This is not the case. The house is where Calie's (now Carroll) mother, Alice, committed suicide. The reasons for this are twisted and a little lengthy so we wont go into them (If anyone wants to know more about that see return to Wonderland). The only importance the house holds is that it is the current location of the looking glass which is the doorway to wonderland. The only other thing was that the reason she goes back into wonderland which for those who have not read the stories, I won't ruin it. Again overall a good review but I feel that some key story points where missed in the review.
I thought this was an excellent issue. Escape from Wonderland will be the final part of the Wonderland Trilogy. This issue was basically a bit of a recap of the previous two series as well as setting the mood for this part of the trilogy. The ghost images were excellently placed, reminding readers of major events that had come before. The fact that she had gotten ahold of the same fireman's axe that she had used on her brother was a really nice touch. I also liked that she had the weapons ready when she stepped through the mirror as she knows from previous experience that wonderland attacks you when you are least ready to face it. It's so nice that Callie has learned to be prepared and is not the stereotypical Damsel In Distress. She is the Damsel About to Cause Distress. I, also, really appreciated the character profiles in the back as there have been a lot of hints to some of these characters spread through several issues. It was nice to have the refresher on characters that have not been really dealt with since the first series of Return to Wonderland.
The thing is, this is a #0 issue. It's not meant to start the story. It's meant to be a review for those who are familiar with the previous 2 parts of this trilogy arc and as an introduction for those who are not familiar with the previous parts of this story.
:) That was fun. And yeah, most of the book was recap and set up for the third series. If you haven't been following it's a nice way to bring people up to speed on things and to give the fans of the series as nice ominious set up for what's in store for our main character.
P.s. It was pretty cool seeing the story talk for itself.

yeah i had to turn it up about half way on my
to half volume to hear. so when the end music soudned it shook the house rattled the windows an hurt me ears.if you have a decent sound card an a mic you can adjust the sound a bit wount eco as much .would almost sound as good as your comic con reports in clear sound.
