Maidman Is Awesome
Adam Warren does an amazing job with this issue. The first thing that needs to be said is that this book is a joint effort from him and Emily Warren. Adam doing the normal day to day life of our self-conscious heroine and Emily Warren who does the actual interview with Maidman. To be honest the main reason I picked up this issue was because of Maidman. I have never heard of the guy before and when reading this issue the reader can really get into this guys M.O. The segments between Maidman and Blitzcraig were hilarious, I dont think I have ever read anything about animal themed heroes being called, "One step above a furry" before and that just made me laugh. The little Tet-A-Tet between the two just begins to mock some time honored superhero traditions like the rogues gallery, sultry costumes, and the "cape that got away". Interspaced between this segment is Emp, Thugboy, and NInjette, speaking about the awesome that is Maidman, giving hit epithets like the "Squeaky Clean Samurai", and "The garter-belted gladiator". On of my favorite scenes from this book was when Emp confides in the Caged Demonwolf, about how Maidman and herself are so different. It was pretty heartwarming to hear The Demonwolf say "What performace would maidman do jackanapes. But I digress you get a lot of action in here and Emily Warrens artwork is just beautifully stunning she just gives all of these costumes this beautiful sparkle. So go ahead and buy it if your man enough.
